The story of H. Clyde Balsey of San Antonio, Texas who worked his way to England and then to France where he joined the American Ambulance Corps. He later joined the French Aviation Corps and became a member of the Lafayette Escadrille, trained at Pau, and was assigned to the air guard in Paris. He was seriously wounded at the front in 1916 and after recovering was stationed in Washington and served in the U.S. Army Air Service. Name on front endpaper. Spine slightly cocked, edges of text block soiled. 2.25" chip to bottom of jacket spine, .25" chip to top of jacket spine. Scarce in jacket.
