Typed Letter, signed, on the letterhead: "U.S. Marine Corps Base Commanding General's Office San Diego, California" dated 1 August 1945. Along with a photographic portrait, inscribed and dated Aug. 2, 1945. Earl Cecil Long (November 4, 1883 - August 19, 1983) was an decorated officer in the United States Marine Corps who reached the rank of Major General. During the World War II, he served as Commanding General, Service Command Fleet Marine Force, Pacific and later as Commanding General Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. He took part in the following campaigns;
