Printed at the Chiswick Press on handmade Vidalon paper. Illustrated with 59 collotype plates with frontispiece printed by Emery Walker. Each volume with the bookplate of Dr. Eugene S. Flamm, neurosurgeon, bibliophile and former president of the Grolier Club. “David Garnett suggested the Nonesuch Press should commission this text of prose and poetry, including, for the first time, all the known variant readings, and at Geoffrey Keynes’s suggestion sixty plates from the illustrated books. Milton is printed in full for the first time, and Vala, or the Four Zoas is presented in a text prepared from the original manuscript” Dreyfus, A History of the Nonesuch Press. Edges and corners scuffed, spines soiled with scuffing to outer hinge of volume two, frontispiece and title page offset from acidic paper laid in.
