"Dr. Wollaston thinks it right to inform Mr. Gray that the paper begun last meeting of the R.[oyal] Society will not be concluded this evening...Mr. Gray will consequently not give himself th trouble to call before Friday 12 Dec unless he wishes for longer time for reading the minute of so long a paper,..." Addressed to "Mr Gray, Marlborough House, Little Chelsea". William Hyde Wollaston PRS FRS was an English chemist and physicist who is famous for discovering the chemical elements palladium and rhodium. He also developed a way to process platinum ore into malleable ingots. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1793, where he became an influential member. He served as its president in 1820. In 1822 he was elected a Foreign Honorary Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Two Penny Post rubber stamp, blind-stamp to seal the letter. The opening has caused a tear to one blank corner.
