Sweeting, Curator of Flight Material (retired) observes that the Norm Flayderman collection contains "significant and unique items from the early years of aviation that rival the holdings of the National Air and Space Museum, the U.S. Air Force Museum and other major societies...He has built what may be considered the finest private collection of worldwide artifacts documenting major personalities and events from early years of flight through WWI." Of the 309 lots offered in this sale, 18 pertain to the Lafayette Escadrille and the Lafayette Flying Corps. The lots are described in detail and many are illustrated with color photographs.
