A history of approximately 300 typefaces which are shown in upper and lower cases with numerals and punctuation. The history, aims, and purpose behind many of these typefaces are also described, along with production problems encountered and individual characteristics. This Preliminary Edition was sent out by Mac McGrew to those who contributed to the project and asking for additional input. Laid in is a full page TLs from McGrew to typographer and book designer, Darrell Hyder discussing Douglas C. McMurtrie's font, "McMurtrie Title." Short tear to top endge of front wrapper with light wear around edges. Spine creased.
