Brooks was in the 139th Squadron and the the 22nd Squadon, 2nd Pursuit Group A.E.F. He was Flight Commander and Commanding Officer of the 22nd. He was also a post-War Commander of the 95th Pursuit Squadron, 1st Pursuit Group (along with the 27th, 147th and 94th Pursuit Squadron). He had six official and four unofficial victories. He flew SPAD XIII and his fourth plane is in the Smithsonian Institution. With original envelope addressed to a World War One collector, postmarked 1959.
