First Edition. octavo, boards in dust jacket. xii, 322pp. Weidenfeld and Nicolson, Item #3711

Cartwright was a Victorian writer and art historian whose works are primarily concerned with the Italian Renaissance. Five of her books are histories of women of the Renaissance and her friendships included the artistic and literary figures of the day: Berard Berenson, Edward Burne- Jones, and the young Roger Fry. Chapters focus the diaries chronologically, including First Venture into Print; Discovering Italy; Literary Success. Very fine.
